All Aboard the MCJ 2021 KC Express

Cel-e-brate good times come on! It's not only one of Kool and the Gangs biggest hits, but it also let's us know that it's nearly Labor Day and family reunion time is here again! Yes, in just two short days family will start arriving into KCMO to join in a festive and fun-filled MCJ 2021 KC Family Reunion weekend. All aboard!

We've literally been anticipating this day for nearly two years! Covid shut us down completely last year and has dogged us the entire year of 2021. However, we're going to trust that we can gather in a safe and well thought out manner while keeping a 72 year old tradition alive!

Here's the lightning round blast of all your last minute items to be aware of before you head out the door on your way to KC.

• Tee Shirts are in! Hit Lee up asap (capt2278.lg@gmail.com or the website at www.alphaomegacontracting.biz to make sure you get the color, fabric, and size you desire. Also, a limited number of caps, bags, and other accessories are available.

• If its all-white it's all right! Yep, the banquet on Sunday is your time to shine in your favorite all white attire. Sunday, Sept 5, 2021 1:00 pm. Come prepared to raise funds, eat great food, and handle a lot of business. Be there or be square.

• Scholarship - Our committee will be hard at work to pull off another MCJ tradition by awarding our youth monetary rewards for doing well in school. Report cards and/or transcripts to Terrail, Pamela, or Erin asap upon arrival. Usual rules apply.

• Transportation - Given that rental car rates are through the roof, no one will blame you if you fly in and decide not to rent a car. Don't worry, we got you! Help us out by letting one of our two transportation captains know asap if you need a ride and all relevant details. We're running the shuttle between Friday 9/3 and Monday 9/6 to get you from the airport to the hotel and to the various family reunion events. Check the posted times for going to and from the events.

• Thursday Night Bash - For those arriving early on Thursday, don't sleep on the opening night party at The Collins Compound, corner of 61st Street at Jackson avenue. Serious eats, fun, games, and shenanigans a plenty.

• Tax Exempt Status - You may recall that previously we spoke in the newsletter about how we could use our tax exempt status as a non-profit organization to save some money for family members not having to pay the state sales tax portion of their hotel bill. Well, unfortunately through a protracted struggle with the relevant Missouri state agency, even with our best MCJ expert Dorice Metcalf on the case, we were denied and we will not be able to use our tax exempt status for our hotel related reunion events. Sorry gang, we tried.

• MCJ Business Meeting - Sat. morning 9/4 at 9:00 a.m. hotel 2nd floor. Be prepared to handle business on a wide range of topics.

• Friday Check-in, Meet & Greet - This is the initial time to check in, receive your welcome bag, and double check your dues are paid. Two computer stations are set up, one already paid and one for those needing to pay. You know which line you should be in. For check in, our very own corner of the huge Embassy Suites hotel lobby will be the MCJ party zone.

• Sunday School - We weren't able to arrange the full blown church service we're accustomed to but we're putting together a biblically based presentation and discussion of spiritual matters of crucial importance. Join our co-presenters Lee and Mary Collins as they take us to Sunday School.

Well, that's about it. We are so looking forward to showing everyone our best KC hospitality and making this a truly memorable and enjoyable experience for everyone!
