Defeating the Pandemic

Hello Fam, hope this message finds you and family doing well. In a previous e-letter we spoke about the possibility of having our reunion this Labor Day as planned. While it is not yet a definite, there are several things that we as the MCJ Family can do to increase the chances that we'll be able to get together in September.

First and foremost, we strongly encourage all MCJ family members to get the Coronavirus vaccine. As you know, there are three available, effective vaccines currently being administered around the country. If you haven't had your vaccine yet and maybe don't know where to start, just use this online tool to help identify vaccine sites in your community. https://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/covid-19/reporting/vaccinefinder/about.html

Secondly, as we emerge from over a year of changes in the way we interact and live our lives, let's keep in mind that all of the recommended behaviors that help to keep us safe (wearing masks, social distancing, washing hands, sanitizer, etc.) remain in effect. Let's not let our guard down now, we're too close to the finish line to get careless now. Just a few more months of these behaviors and a vaccinated population will help defeat this pandemic.

When we meet on our zoom call in May we hope to be able to recommend going forward with our reunion this year. However, it is not a foregone conclusion. It will depend on where the numbers and the trends stand as for as coronavirus cases around the country and how well the vaccine rollout is progressing. This is especially important for our seniors, since we have a large number of older family members and we are determined to do what we can to protect them and keep them safe.

So, MCJ lets all do our part and God willing and the creek don't rise we'll be able to enjoy each other in person this September.

That's it for now, look out for the May zoom call link that will be sent a week or two before the call.

Much Love,

MCJ Family Reunion
