MCJ 2021 Unsung Heroes

Hello Fam, still buzzing from an incredible family love fest weekend during MCJ 2021 KC. I'll be sending a detailed recap soon but in the meantime I just have to recognize a few folks who stepped up and went above and beyond. First on that list is my baby brother TC. Now, we all like to tease TC, and we all just loved taking him down in the dunk tank (see attached video) https://www.facebook.com/100000383181497/videos/268266358251618/. But, while making a great contribution to the fun and enjoyment overall, TC singlehandedly raised over $1,000.00 for the MCJ Scholarship.

That's right, not a typo, over $1,000.00 raised for the MCJ scholarship via the "Let's Make a Deal" game show promotion designed and executed by TC. For the last several years TC has been accumulating things, gadgets, security cameras, useful household items, etc. He purchased these items with his personal funds from Lowes and "Big Lots" sales of amazon items, brand new, still in the box. Even though he picked them up at a steep discount, that still represents an outlay of cash that he invested, with the sole purpose of auctioning them off for a good cause, the MCJ Family Reunion Scholarship.

While I'm at it, he also volunteered for the dunk tank fundraiser, and executed the 50/50 raffle. Please join me in giving a big time MCJ shoutout of thanks and gratitude to my little brother TC!

While I'm recognizing folks we would be remiss if we didn't give a huge shoutout to the DMV. What is the DMV you ask? Well, that's an acronym for (Washington DC), Maryland and Virginia, commonly known as a tri-state area called the DMV. In the Battle of the Cities fundraiser the DMV I must say played it smart. They let everyone else go first. Arizona, Chicago/Wisconsin/Indiana, Kansas City, several other locations. Now everyone expected KC to take the title since they had home field advantage. You're not coming into my house and taking the title right? Well, after everyone had shot their best shot, KC was coasting toward what they thought was an easy victory and bragging rights as the champion in the Battle of the Cities fundraiser. Marquel saunters up representing the DMV and delivers a knockout punch with a winning total that left everyone speechless. I'll give the amounts in the wrap-up later but it was well over $900.00 and it left KC stunned and unable to answer the bell. So join me in recognizing the new champion in the battle of the Cities, the DMV! Well played DMV, well played!

While I'm giving shoutouts I'd like to give huge kudos to Ms. Latonya (Tonya) Renee Greene soon to be Tonya Collins. Tonya conceived and executed a concept called club 3891 converted from the garage to a late night Karaoke club. That was big fun and added a unique element to MCJ 2021 KC. Also, did you notice the MCJ banner, the place settings, the cards and materials in the gift bags? All of these items were skillfully designed and produced by my better half, the talented and ultra organized Ms. Dawn Collins.

Our transportation committee Malcolm and Charles did an incredible job going above and beyond getting people from and to the airport and other places and on executing the Barbeque picnic. Lee did his usual excellent job on the tee shirts. Not only designing, promoting and selling the shirts but doing his best to make sure everyone got what they needed. Cee Cee, Tim, Rita, Mary, Carlos, Janice, Briana, in fact, all of our supporting cast made significant contributions.

While I'm mentioning just a few who stood out, this was a total team effort and I want to recognize anyone else I haven't mentioned thus far. Thank you, thank you, thank you. On to the cruise!

Much Love,

MCJ 2021 KC Planning Committee
