Greetings family. The Collins family of Kansas City, MO sadly announces the death of our dear brother Michael Ray Collins. Michael passed peacefully overnight on Wed. 10/18/23 at approximately 12:20 a.m. at the age of 71. "Michael Ray" was born Oct. 2, 1952 in Charleston, Mississippi, the 3rd of Willie and Minnie's 7 boys.

Michael recently entered hospice care after a hospital stay where he was diagnosed with stage four prostate cancer just two weeks ago and returned to the Jefferson Healthcare nursing home to complete his journey. Declining health was the dominant theme for Michael over the last three years and we take solace from the fact that he won't have to deal with these struggles anymore as he transitions to whats next.

Michael was a regular at MCJ family reunions prior to recent years health challenges. He stood out for a number of reasons, well dressed, good looking, drove a nice car. Michael had five children, 3 girls, Maliya, Jamila, and Shani, with first wife Joyce, and Devlin and Kevin separately. They were all able to attend a reunion of sorts with their dad a couple years ago and it was truly a highlight moment for Michael.

We pray that God will render good judgement on our brother and we are thankful for the prayers of family and friends.

Arrangements for Michael are as follows:

Lawrence A. Jones Funeral Home

1800 Linwood Blvd. KCMO 64109

Mon. Nov. 6, 2023 10:00 a.m. - Wake

11:00 a.m. - Funeral Service

1:30 p.m. - Burial Veterans Cemetary Leavenworth, Kansas

That's about it for now family. Still tingling from the excitement of MCJ 2023 Family Reunion in Washington, DC and anxiously awaiting a phenomenal reunion event in Phoenix in 2024. News coming soon!

Be blessed fam,

MCJ Reunion Planning Committee
