Hello family. Recently our cousin Curtis Metcalf contacted me and shared his excitement about the upcoming MCJ 2021 KC Family Reunion. Cuz, he said, I've been reaching out to relatives that haven't attended the reunion before or maybe had attended previously years ago. It's hard to generate that personal connection and excitement when they don't see that direct link through their own parents and grandparents to the MCJ family tree. Hmm, you have a good point Curtis I said, maybe we should try to fix that. Yes, Curtis said and I've got the perfect way to do that.

So Curtis sent me two obituaries of Metcalf family members who passed recently so I could post them in the newsletter and help those receiving this to make the connection! Check out the information below on Cora Mae Barfield and Savannah Metcalf-Veal, the last of 10 siblings born to Nelse Metcalf and Pearlie (Davis) Metcalf, (Curtis' grandparents) and thanks to Curtis for the info.

Turning to MCJ 2021 KC Family Reunion, we are rounding third and headed home leading toward an awesome weekend event this September 3-5, 2021. Here's the most important items you need to remember. Dues, Dues, Dues. If you haven't paid already, it's not too late.

We'd like to share some of the planned activities for the reunion although we're continuing to refine those plans with an eye toward making your stay in KC as enjoyable as possible. You may have heard we're going to kick things off this year with a special Thursday night opening party at the Collins Compound. This event just might become a tradition at our reunions, at least for any future reunion hosts that want to compete for the title! Next, we have the Welcome to KC Meet &Greet on Friday evening at 6:00 p.m. at the hotel. The annual MCJ Family Business Meeting will be Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. followed by the KC Masterpiece Picnic at 1:00 in Swope Park at the Bandstand, just off 63rd & Jackson. Saturday night we’ll have a range of suggested activities including chilling at the hotel for the less adventurous. Sunday morning we’ll worship together for those that choose to followed at 1:00 p.m. by our annual MCJ Banquet with all the related activities. The banquet will be held at the Fireman's Hall at 63rd & Manchester.
